We went to Rockland to see a traditional lighting of the town Christmas tree which had a distinctly Maine twist to it. The tree was made of around 170 lobster traps and the ornaments were lobster buoys. Even knowing that it was made from lobster traps it was still amazing to see what 170 lobster traps arranged in the shape of a Christmas tree looks like. By this time it was really cold!!!! and I was lucky to get Dad to stay out in the cold long enough to get this picture taken.

Here is a close up of the "tree"

You all look cold! And we thought it was chilly here today being in 50's. It looks like you are having so much fun, wish we could be there!
You look extremely cold! I loved the lobster tree.
We were cold but not nearly as cold as we were when we visited the FDR summer house in Campobello, New Brunswick the next day.
I love the tree. I love the lobster tree topper the most.
I forgot to mention in the post that in conjunction with the tree lighting they are doing an auction of all the lobster traps for $50 dollars a ticket. Mom, Dad, and I couldn't think of what we would do with 170 lobster traps but at the end of the Christmas season there will be a lobsterman who thinks that tree is especially beautiful!
