Happy Days are here again!

Hip Hip Hooray! Today was a great day! After six weeks of sponge baths and itchy ankles, Emma the Magnificent got her casts off. She was a little nervous because the cast saw was very LOUD but she only cried a little! At first, her ankles were very stiff but she is walking around just fine now. This picture was taken right after her long, luxurious bubble bath where she massaged her legs for a long time. Some of her cute comments are; "My legs are soooo happy to be rubbed! and "My baby toes and ankles love to wiggle!" Life is good with light as a feather legs and Harry Potter #3 to read!

Emma - we are so happy for you. You did a great job being patient while your body got better (that is NOT an easy job ...!)

Glad to see you have the casts off. I'm totally on your side with the bubble bath and leg massage thing - even at 42 it's still my favorite way to get clean!

Yay for Emma! I'm in Manchester NY this week so I wasn't there for the momentous bath but Emma sounded SO happy when I talked to her last night. After going through something similar last year I know how frustrating it can be not to be able to have a shower!

Emma,
I can still remember the day I got my cast off and what a great day that was. However, like you, I thought the saw was going to cut my legs but then the nurse put the saw against her arm to show me it only vibrates and wouldn't cut anything but plaster I relaxed and enjoyed getting rid of those heavy casts. Now that your casts are gone can you walk and run or will you have to wait until your legs get stronger? Let me know.
I love you,
Grandpa

Way to Go Emma! Nothing feels better than getting casts off. I can remember being a little worried that they would cut me with that saw when they where taking mine off.
