It has been a long week for me. I was supposed to fly up to Toledo OH to work at our new plant in that area. I was flying through Cincinnati, however my plane was an hour late getting off the ground because it had to be de-iced. By the time I got to Cincinnati my plane to Toledo was gone. The next plane didn't leave for 4 hours and it is only a 3 hour drive to the plant. I went ahead and rented a car instead of waiting. That trip was 205 miles. After two days in OH my co-worker and I drove down to Mt. Sterling KY to finish up some loose ends at that plant. That trip was 312 miles. I tried to change my ticket to fly home early but good old delta wanted over $400 to make a change to my ticket. I ended up driving the rental back to atlanta. The mileage for the 4 days was over 1000 and I can say I am truly sick and tired of driving! I hope Crystal and the kids don't want to go anywhere. I might throw a fit. :)
It was interesting to see so much of the country though. I can't believe how flat Ohio is. It seems like there isn't a hill in the state. As soon as you cross the ohio river into KY it is very hilly and extremely beautiful. I would move to KY if I had the chance. It has some of the prettiest country I have ever seen.
On a positive note I did find a geocache in KY. Crystal found one for me to get as I was driving home from lexington. She gave me such good directions that I was able to find the cache without my GPS!

I drove through that part of the country once on my way from North Carolina to Montana. KY is beautiful, although from my journal entry (i was just re-reading it last night coincidentally) i couldn't get out of there fast enough...
There is a large state park (Daniel Boone State Park)in the central part of the state where I tried to camp out one night. I got in trouble though with a ranger because I wasn't allowed to camp in the state park (still this baffles me). He told me that the only overnight accommodations in the park were cabins. I still believe that this was just there way of being inhospitable to transients.
I totally get how you feel about being in a car too long! It feels funny for me to say this, but I am actually relieved that I don't have to drive across the country right now.
I'm glad you're safely home. Bet Crystal and the kids are too. I know it's hard to have Dad gone. You did get to see a lot of the country. I've only been in a small part of Kentucky but it was beautiful.
Now I have my map filled out I'm going to post it in a few minutes. It's going to show that currently I have visited every State in America except New Jersey and Oklahoma and mom has visited all but the ones I've missed and Alaska. However, We haven't seen very much of a lot of States so if mom is willing I think we will do some major driving this year so reading your post Dan wets my appatite rather than damping it. Glad you made it home safe.
Dan,
I talked more about me than you ... Sounds like you are traveling more now than before, is that right?
I have driven a lot of OH and it was a lot flatter then I expected. From what I have seen of KY it has been beautiful.
I know how you feel about driving, I have just returned from driving to and back from San Diego. I think its a little further then your drive. I did the same drive back in October taking the kids to Sea World and Disneyland. I think I am done driving as well.
