It is a sad thing to leave a place you love even if you know that you don't want to stay there forever. I knew that the moment would come where I would drive off the island for the last time, drive over the Penobscot River and past Bangor for the last time, and drive over the Piscataca River and out of Maine for the last time but it is still hard when the moment comes. On my last day of work I took a long lunch break and went out to the little portion of Acadia that is open when there is snow. I feel lucky to have seen Maine in all of its seasons and to have snow just before I left was the best gift of all ... the see the rock bound coast of Maine dressed in its traditional coat of snow!

This post makes me so sad :(
"GOOD-BYE MAINE! (waving from Utah) Hope to see you again someday!"
Drive safe Kate, have fun with Deb and the Anderson's and GOOD LUCK in North Carolina (say hi to the cardinals for me).
See you in Utah.
It made me sad too. I know it's hard to leave a place you have grown to love. You were wise to enjoy and experience as much of Maine as you could. You have discovered a beautiful spot on the earth and shared it with all of us and we have grown to love Maine along with you. I feel like Charlie, only I'm waving from AZ. I echo the sentiments of driving carefully and enjoying the trip! I love you and I'm grateful I got to share a little of your Maine experience.
Thanks for sharing Maine with us Kristi. I have always wanted to go but haven't made it yet. Your pictures and words brought it alive for me!
So ends the chapter of this experience and the start of the first page of the next adventure that has already started. It's not goodbye rather it's until we meet again. We'll be back to visit you rugged old bugger.
Good luck Lady Adventurer!
Love ya,
Dad
This post makes me so sad too ... even though by leaving Maine you ended up in Baltimore (and we are always so glad to have you) I fell in love with Maine too. Mostly because you are so amazing at showing us all the places you love.
I can't wait to see (and visit) wherever you land next. You'll find the best there, just like you did in Maine!
