I've received a few e-mails asking about the storm. It has been fantastic! From what I hear on the news it started in the early morning and has not stopped since. I have enjoyed watching it all day at work. We have lots of big windows that overlook Frenchman Bay so we have great views of the storm. At lunch time I put on my snow pants, winter coat, 40 below boots and went tromping around the area where I work. It was so much fun!!
I just went outside and measured the snow and it was at 8" but I will check again in the morning and again after work (if I can get there!).

The gate to the grounds of the mansion where I work

The gates. You can really see here the wind blowing the snow!

Deer Brook pond and Deer Brook meeting the sea.

The greenhouse and my house after work.
There is so much more snow than that now. The trees by my front porch are 100% covered in snow and sagging from the weight.

10" at 7:00 am this morning! and strong winds that are rocking the house!
Sounds like an Idaho storm--snow softens the world and makes it quiet. I love snow storms especially when everyone is home and there is soup to eat. However, I hope it doesn't snow you in so you can't leave. Portland ME made the news last night as well as that other Portland that was having 100 MPH winds. Enjoy your last few days in ME.
You live in a hugh house with a greenhouse and work in a Mansion why would you ever leave?
I hope you the storm that just left us has calmed down before it get to you. One of the ski resorts (Schweitzer) got 56" in 2 days we got more rain than snow.
Have a safe trip south.
Don't mess with the slick roads ... get to work and come home. How was the activity in Bangor?
How much snow did you end up with? We have snow in the forecast this weekend, I will get a chance to go out and look at a few more snow covered places.
Oddly, even though it snowed all day until about 1:00 or 2:00, there was still only 10" of snow when I got home. I think that the snow yesterday was somewhat powdery (for Maine standards) and today's snow had more moisture so it squished all of the other stuff down ... sounds like a good theory at least.
It was a very fun storm!!
