There is no doubt the Alden and Erma Larsen (Grandpa and Grandma) really loved each other. They always showed loving, caring respect for one another. I wish that all of you had had the opportunity to know them better ... but in time you will.
The comings and goings of Lug and DaRee's brood. Watch out for the pig.

These pictures were taken on their 25th wedding anniversary, June 14, 1953. They loved each other so much and were so kind to each other and to us. They are standing in front of our fantastic snowball bush and by their peonies. They were both good gardners. (Irma)
Thanks for sharing the photos. It is funny, even though grandpa Larsen died before I was born and Grandma Larsen died when I was only two I associate snowball bushes with them. I guess mom has told a lot of stories that included the snowball bush. Even though we didn't get much time with grandma and grandpa Larsen mom has given us their heritage with her stories!
Mom, why did you put Irma in parenthesis at the end of your post? Just curious.
Charlie, in the top picture you can see Mother is standing by the Magnavox radio/phono chest that you have. That was the one luxury we had in our home and it took a lot of hard work from my Dad insulating houses at night after his day job to buy it--cash. He was careful to not go into debt. We listened to many hours of beautiful music and I especially remember listening to the operettas of Gilbert and Sullivan. When I was playing the flute we would listen together to some of the great classical music that I was learning to play.
Dad mispelled her name with an "E".
Ah, I didn't even notice ... my brain just read it as Irma ... it is funny how our brains do that ... it makes proof reading difficult.
The snowball bush was big and beautiful. People used to stop and look at it as they drove down our street. It was especially pretty when the sun was shining on it. And the balls themselves were always huge (at least to a little kid!)
Thanks for posting the photos. It has been fun to see all the old photos of G&G Larsen on the Larsen Blog.
Mom ... i love that you shared these pictures and these stories. It's the best way for G&G lessons to go on. Not just for us, but for our children.
I have enjoyed seeing the pictures on the Larsen web site as well, but there have not been a lot with me in them. I must not have smiled for the camera back then either so I was not included........
I've always loved these photos. I never knew Grandpa Alden, and Grandma was gone too early as well. I almost can feel her hugs when I see photos of her.
Thanks Mom.
