I got bib number 2. Will someone will just do the run and bike portion for me? Kidding, but not really. I better get training. The last time I ran for more than 400 yards in one spurt was in high school (i think).
I got in at 12:15 and had the 662th bid. I cant believe it sold out that fast. We cant quite all get into the race the same year, after this year, it will be 5 out of the 6 little pigs taking part.
Wait a minute Dave... Viking Man? Half Tri? (Half-Distance: 1.2 mile swim – 56 mile bike – 13.1 mile run.) That better be a half ironman, not half spudman. What did I sign up for?
I calculated the spudman (1.5K Swim, 40K bike, 10K Run) as (approx) 1 mile swim, 25 mile bike, 6.5 mile run. This I (believe I) can (barely) do. I can't do 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike and 26.2 mile run. Please tell me that's not what we signed up for...
I am really excited and can't believe i got bib no. 2. There are a lot of mad people who didn't get into the race (i know, it was me last year)... this year filled up in less than 2 hours. WOWY!
From the Comments on the Spudblog it looks like it filled in less than 1/2 hour more like 20 min. The vikingman is twice as long as the Spud. I would like to do a 1/2 IronMan someday maybe next year. The Vikingman would be a great 1st 1/2 IronMan.
Charlie if you want to do a shorter Tri before the Spud there is one in Medical Lake that I like to do every year that is short and fun. If you want to do it I will find the date.
Mom my best guess is that we will drive to the Spud and home and not come to UT. We would love to have to come up and watch the race. You could be part of a team Ward next year.
Charlie, You are the best athlete of any of us so I don't think the tri will be that hard for you. I know you are a great athlete because I used to watch you when I was growing up wishing I could do what you did athletically.
The hardest part of the tri for me was the run. I wish I would have practiced running after taking some long bike rides. Since you are swimming with the current the swim doesn't take much out of you.
Also don't ride a mtn bike. It is demoralizing to get passed by people in skinny tires.

203 days, or
29 weeks
until spudman
Does this mean that some of you will come and stay at my house or at least come and see me? :-)
