I am traveling this week for business. Oddly enough I am still in Atlanta. Howver, I am in the part of town that it is almost impossible to get to my house from in under two hours, so I am staying in a hotel on the other side of town. It is only a 30 mile drive but at rush hour it takes 2 hours to drive! We were looking for a place to eat tonight after work. I asked the hotel staff if they could reccomend any place good to eat. The part of town I am in is kind of hoity toity so there were several nice places to choose from. We finally decided on a Japanese Steakhouse called Ichiban. It was excellent!!
I didn't take the picture you see but we got the same treatment from the chef! He put on quite a show with his cooking utensils including throwing an egg ten feet in the air and cracking it on the side of a spatula, juggling utensils, making a volcano out of a sliced onion (extremly cool) and generally entertaining us as he did his job. If you have never had the chance to go to Japanese steakhouse I would encourage you to save up your money and enjoy the experience!

That looks like a lot of fun!
That is funny that you are on the road in Atlanta. It is funny to be in a city so big that you can't get home at night ... but glad that you don't have to deal with the huge commute.
I think my kids would really love to see those kind of restaurants, but it is too expensive for kids and they probably don't toss mac n' cheese in the air.
Dad and I ate in a place in Glendale that sounds a lot like what you experienced--I can remember an onion volcano--the food was delicious. I really like Japanese food better than Chinese but I don't get it too often. Maybe we could go there sometime when we are in Atlanta?
There is a great Japanese Steakhouse in Ogden not to far from Grandma's house. That we have eaten at a few times. It fun and I like the food a lot. I am not sure how Japanese a steakhouse is, I did not see anything like it when I was in Japan. But maybe it was just my limited budget then.
I agree with Lana. I wouldn't ever pay to take the kids to one of these places. They are kind of pricy but they are worth experiencing one time. I had to wait thirty years before i got my first chance!
How Funny to be on a business trip in your own town.
My kids LOVE Japanese steakhouses -- they all do the same show. There is one by Jay's house in NC that we've been to a time or two. There are a couple near Jon's house too. We celebrated Clay's birthday there a few years ago with a couple of Jay's Marine buddies in tow. One of them Pvt. Payne, took a dare to eat a lump of wasabi (probably about 2 tablespoons). the cooks came out of the kitchen and begged him not to do it. The owner had the phone in hand ready to dial 9-1-1.... Payne took a big bite and swallowed and let out a equally big yelp, but he didn't require medical assistance. The owner bought him a beer and slapped him on the back, they were all really impressed! .....that night is one of my kid's favorite memories!
It's nice to live on the Oldcastle credit card isn't it?
