Katie and I went for a hike in the rain on Saturday. We were near a small little town called Enumclaw. We arrived at the state park quite by accident having seen the brown signs for the state park on our way somewhere else. It was raining a bit but we both had on waterproof jackets so off we went. We were very enamored with the little hike we took and can't wait to take the family back when it is sunny and we can have the canoe out on the lake. The park has everything a family could want, a lake for swimming and fishing, playground and picnic tables. We ended up making short order of the 1.5 mile hike (walk?) but enjoyed it immensely. The thing I loved the most about the hike
was the smell of the pines in the air. It was so fresh and clean. It was a wonderful afternoon to be outside. Just after we got off the trail it stopped raining and we enjoyed a great drive home.

Sounds like a wonderful day--being with Katie and enjoying God's handiwork. I love the way you are exploring and learning about your new state!
How far from your house is this?
It was about a 45 minute drive from the house but only 25 miles away. Like most of western washington there is not a decent road to get you there. You just have to enjoy the scenery as you drive!
They have a Tri there in the summer!
Little or no grass grows under the Dan Ward families feet. Wonder where you got that from? I'm not sure where that saying came from because it doesn’t make much sense other than if your tramping around I guess the grass doesn’t grow where you are continually walking and if you're sitting in a chair with your feet off the ground then I guess grass grows. Whew! Not sure the explanation was needed or wanted anyway looks like a fun place to go. By the way, did I miss the picture of the lake you can canoe and swim in?
It looks like a fun hike, you live in a very beautiful place. The new adventure is making me want to move some where else to have my own adventure.
We have Oldcastle plants up here Michael. Come on up and enjoy the rain!
