Happy May!

Do you remember growing up in Idaho and what May meant? It meant that schoool was almost out and that Spring was finally and solidly in place. It meant that you could wear shorts outside (at least in the afternoon) but not to school. It meant the lawn was going to need to be mowed soon. We were lucky to have grown up in such a cool place.

After spending the last 12 years in the south I've forgotten how cool May could be. The things that I used to associate with May now roll around in March!

I can remember that as well most years. I also remember my Sr year of high school on the tennis courts with our snow blower moving 3 feet of snow because it would not melt in time for our first scheduled match. May 1st was not always as warm as we remember.

Today on May 1st, I have been driving in a blizzard most of the day......when is spring going to be here again?

Yep, snow all day. It is pretty wild to see all of the beautiful blooms with the snow falling

It snowed one year on my birthday when I was in grade school. It was the last day of school and we were going on a picnic. Instead we ate our lunches on our school room floor. But Dan is right--May usually meant spring and it was the best month of the year! I think you have to grow up experiencing winters to truly appreciate the wonder of spring and rebirth. I love IDAHO. Just to make you all jealous, we had a cold front move into AZ yesterday. It only warmed up to 85

I laughed so hard when I read Michael and Kristi's comments. Perhaps I should have saved this post for JUNE!

I won't even bore you with the weather details for GA. It would make those of you shoveling snow extremely Jealous. Suffice it to say my tomatos are all planted and need water!

My memories of the Idaho Spring time are; wind, cold, more wind, an hour or two of sun, still more wind and then in mid June, what I would really call Spring, started to happen. Now, Idaho the Fall is the time I enjoyed most of all. It started in late July and lasted all the way to November ... sometimes after Thanksgiving. No place I've ever lived had such nice weather in the fall! But Idaho Spring is really winter getting in its final effort.
Love to all,
Dad

Happy may to all. This has been an Idaho Falls type winter (without the wind) and we are now having a great May after months of no flowers they are coming out like crazy. It takes a long winter to make you really enjoy the spring.
