Our record snowfall last year has turned into lots of water and the rivers and lakes are flooding. We went to Lake Coeur d’Alene last Saturday to see how high it has gotten. We tend to take everyone who comes to Spokane to see the lake so most of you have seen it when it was normal. They is still enough snow that one of the Ski resorts is still open we are hopping that the snow melt slows down so we don’t have more flooding.

Hard to see but the boardwalk behind Shelby is under water. This is the world’s largest flooding boardwalk that we always take visitors to walk around.
The sign says no jumping from the bridge. I do not think it will be a problem today.
Lana is standing in the parking lot and the water is down about a foot from its highpoint.
The Dam at Post Falls all the floodgates are open. It is awesome to watch the power as the water comes over the top.

I haven't been to Spokane since I Charlie and I went there 13 years ago. Lots of water in the lake! Has there been very much property damage with the high waters?
Luckily this spring has been a cool one or the flooding in the west might have been terrible. Nothing is as destructive as water in motion.
I have been worried about the cabin sitting below all that snowmelt.
Dan and I went to Spokane together? Wow, I'm losing my memory for sure.
You guys do such fun things together. I would LOVE to see the dam going off in flood stage. I've seen a few in my life including the glen canyon dam (lake powell) which has been so low for years they've had to close much of the recreation area.
There's no flooding in Utah even though we're sitting on record snow because, Dan is right, it's been a really slow warm up this year as well. We got more snow on memorial day.
Charlie,
You and I drove up to Spokane for a 4 day trip. We were dropping off a dog at David's house. I think we drove the jeep up there as I slept in the back on the way up there. This was before I met Crystal so it has been quite some time now.
Every river we've seen in Washington is running over it's banks but nothing we've seen is as dramatic as the picture Dave posted. From what I've heard no one is very concerned about flooding in the Northwest ... but there is still a lot of snow in the mountains so we'll see. In regard to the cabin June is the scarry month ... mom and I are going to stop there on the way back to Utah so we'll keep you posted.
Dad
Dad and Matthew and I went to Yakima to see Lee and Carol. The Columbia is over its banks and the two dams we stopped at had all the flood gates open. We couldn't see any sign that the flooding was doing any property damage. It was interesting to see all the water. We went to the dress rehearsal for Libby's recital tonight--what a cute, precious little doll.
