Here are the Anderson kids all dressed up in their Christmas Eve jammies ... Jon got the almond this year and Clay and I found a new (and better) recipe for the rice pudding. It's creamy and delicious, but the best thing about it is that it makes itself in the crock pot while you're busy cooking everything else.
Thanks to "necessity is the mother of invention" + "the mom in this family procrastinates better than ANYONE we know" ... we have a new "funeral potato" recipe. The store was out of hasbrowns late on the afternoon of December 24th so I used "tater tots" instead. Oh how the children moaned and groaned. "MOTHER! you cannot mess with our traditions!" But in the end we all agreed ... them's darn good taters. Jaqui asked if we could PHULEAZE name the new dish "something happier" than funeral potatoes or as Jose translates the name of the dish "potatoes of the dead" .... I'll take suggestions from the crowd.

I like it!
Kristi and I would love the new recipe for rice pudding--I made it this year (from a mix) and didn't make enough. Dad not only didn't get the almond he didn't get any rice pudding. Laura got the almond at our house.
Well, you can call them anything you really want...we were at a wedding lunch the other day and someone called them funeral potatoes, I corrected them that they were wedding potatoes. Your new creation could be called necessity potatoes, or Christmas potatoes.....
The potatoes sound pretty good to me. How about “Tot Tot Tadders” for a name!! I’ve never had the almond and this year my chances were reduced to 0%. Everyone in the picture looks good and it was so good to visit with you all yesterday. We can't wait to get back to Arizona so we can open our Christmas present.
LOL.
I'm liking Tot Tot Taders, but think Mike is onto something with including "Christmas" -- that way the intention of the name (i.e., where is is served) is preserved. The new dish will henceforth and forever be "Christmas Tot Tots" - which we'll just have to hope does not sound too much like "ta tas" (breasts) to the Spanish speaking set, including Jaylin who loves blankie and tata time. Aren't words fun!?!
