We went over to a friends house last night to drop off a plate of cookies. While we were there they took out their 7 foot Python and let the kids hold it. As you can see Emma was not enthralled with the idea. Katie was not even in the picture. She feels the same way I do about snakes. Chas is a different breed though. I can’t figure out where he gets his nerve. When we were cleaning up our home in GA to put it on the market he found a snake and let it crawl down his shirt and was in heaven. I would have been on the roof.
Emma did eventually hold the snake. When our friend asked her which half she wanted to hold she emphatically said ‘The bottom half!’. She didn’t want to have anything to do with the head of that snake!
I eventually touched the snake as did Katie but that was enough for me.

I don't mind snakes but I wouldn’t let one wrap itself around my neck ... what would happen if it started to squeeze the life out of me? I don't want to find out! Was it warm or cold? Slick or rough? I'll wait safely somewhere on the internet for your answers.
Who in their right mind would have a pet python??? What does it eat? The neighbor's cat? I can't believe Chas let it wrap itself around his neck! I'm with Katie...I'd stay far, far away and out of the picture too.
Dad,
It felt like leather. Very smooth. It's belly was very soft with the rest of it being pretty firm. Their skin was cool to the touch.
At one point it had pinned one of Chas' arms to his sides and he couldn't move it. Chas thought it was HILARIOUS.
I don't know where he got that particular talent but he didn't get it from me.
They feed the snakes rats and such. They invited us to come over and watch them eat.
I'm with you and Katie... YUCK!
Yuck yuck yuck yuck yuck. I hope those neighbors live a long ways away!!!!!
Oh my gosh! This is one experience I'm glad I wasn't there to share with you! There's no way I would have a snake in the house or or on my body. Chas wins the prize for being the "most snake-brave Ward"--though I don't really think many of us want to challenge him for the title!
i love it ...
this is what Chaz is made of :-) one of my best friends used to work at a reptile house, where they sold snakes and other critters. She loves snakes. I'm pretty scared of them myself, but i'm glad someone likes them .. they have a lot to teach us about the world we live in.
