Warrior's Requiem (by Clay Anderson)
I am leaving for war, for the land of the free. I'm leaving for you, and I'm leaving for me. I remember that day, the day that I left. I'll remember forever, better than the rest. I peered up to the sky, and I looked on forever. I was thinking of life and all of its wonders. Was man made to fight in this war? Or was I just a person looking for more. I looked on and on and all I could see is that god himself was crying for me. The day was so dark and the day was so grim but all I could do was pray for him. Dear lord do not cry for I am alive, I am living my dream and I will not die. I promise to achieve my goals as well as my dreams. I will fight for this land, this land of the free. I will come back home and I will see them again; I'll be surrounded by love from family and friends. Lord please guide me as well as my brothers for we must fight and protect one another. I am not alone there are many like me, we are few we are proud, we are the marines!

Wow! You're a great writer Clay! I think that there's a song in there. Mom's (your grandma) brother-in-law (Derlin) used to write poetry kinda like that.
Clay, you are a talented writer--I'm impressed with the message and the way you presented it.
Clay,
Your thoughts are really good and best of all I know it's how you feel about life. You are a good guy who loves his family, friends and country. Keep up the good work! Love you man,
Grandpa
Clay has grown into a good man ... it's hard to think of him going off to boot camp, but we are so proud of him. I think I am a lucky (and very grateful) mom to have six kids who love each other so much.
