Snow cave

I went camping with the Scouts this weekend. This is a snow cave we dug with two beds. I ended up sleeping in my tent that had more room, but the cave was nice and warm. Next time we will go earlier so we can make bigger beds.

Looks like a lot of fun! At first I thought that was in your front yard!

I love snow caves, we sure made a lot of them in IF growing up. Austins had a place next to their driveway that was great for them. The wind would create 4-5 foot drifts that we would build 3 and 4 bedrooms into. I have not built on since then, but they are nice and warm, a lot warmer then a tent. But tents are better when they fall down on top of you....

I remember making Igloos at Austin's and snow caves at Brower's in front of their snow fence. Those were fun times with all of that snow! It is funny I remember there being a lot more snow when I was a kid but it sounds like this year was just like the wonderful winters of my childhood!

I have never actually slept in a snow cave. I don't think I could handle the enclosed space! Looks like a fun campout though! Are you a scoutmaster too or just going along with Matt?
