Emma Matilda Lake

While we were at the cabin we went for a hike that I have never been on although I had heard the name hundreds of times. When we were expecting Emma we had settled on her first name but we couldn’t come up with a middle name that fit. I suggested Emma Matilda and it just sounded right. Emma was excited to see ‘her’ lake. It was a fun hike with a great view of the Tetons. Here are a couple of pictures.

It is hard to believe all the times I had been to the cabin and not seen this view of the mountains. The grand is just around the corner as well.IMG_5793

Emma in front of her lake. Most of the hike was in view of the lake but not where we could get down and touch it much to Emma’s disgust. We finally got to a spot where she could dip her toes in the water. She soon found out her lake is COLD!

The last part of the hike shared a trail with the horses from the Lodge and some very tired kids. That part wasn’t very pleasant as we had to step over horsy-mines but overall it was a wonderful hike. I wouldn’t recommend doing it alone as there are bears in the area. I also found out that there are not any special restrictions on fishing the lake. All you have to do is get a fishing platform to the lake and not get eaten by a bear. No Problem.

It is a fun and interesting hike. If you go around the lake you would have missed all the horse stuff but the hike is a little longer I think. Glad you had such a nice time.

Glad to see all your happy, smiling faces during the long hike. Emma, you look beautiful in front of your beautiful lake. There are so many beautiful places in the Park. I know I'm sorry I didn't go out and explore more.

This is a great hike one of the best in the park. It's better later in the year when the blood suckers have gone away.

We had the best group of hikers that day no complaining and not very much carrying.
To go around the whole lake almost doubles the hike, but would be fun to do sometime.
I am glad Emma liked her lake better than her sign.
