Wednesday
Tuesday night we arrived in Ringkobing on the west coast of Jutland. Jutland is the peninsula that has about a 68km land border with Germany, Denmark’s only land boundary. Jutland is primarily rural and Ringkobing was a charming small town of Viking origin on a beautiful fjord.
Ringkobing celebrated 500 years in 1943.
When I asked Jo what she wanted to do in Ringkobing one of the things that she said was that she wanted to look at the old buildings. When we went to the tourist info center they had a brochure in English about the old houses in town. I thought that was quite serendipitous! Below are some images of the old buildings.
We were also able to find a cemetery in Rinkobing. I have never seen one quite like it. I was disappointed however that all of the old headstones were off to the side.
When we left town we made a wrong turn and ended up at a s
and sculpture festival. It was quite political related to energy which was interesting.
