A two day fishing trip with Dad

I just got home from a two day fishing trip in Swan Valley, I hooked a few fish and no worms were lost in the process. I went with someone from Amcor and a 4 people from a trucking company in ID. We had great first day and floated from the dam to the bridge, we got off the water just at dusk, finishing a good day. We stayed in Swan Valley the night and got up went to breakfast at the Angus Drive In across the street from the square ice cream store. As we walked in door I looked around to see if I knew anyone there (I always look around for people I know when I am in IF) and there were a couple of guys that looked familiar and they were looking at me like they might know me, then Dad turned around in the corner seat and said hi to me. Apparently he had told them that I looked like me as I got out of the car... it was rather odd to meet him there.
The really funny part of this was that we floated the same stretch of the river on Friday (being semi retired he got a early start) we stayed in the same hotel (a 7 room hotel) we ate breakfast at the same place and floated the same part of the river on Saturday. Dad out fished me about 20 to 1, but that's about normal, he is a great fisherman.
Now that the four brothers all live on the same side of the Rockies, maybe we should talk dad into going fishing with us to teach us a few of his secretes.

Mom told me about that. Pretty funny! =)

I'm sure Dad would be more than happy to teach his secret fishing techniques--it's all in how he holds his mouth! That is a funny story--what are the chances?

I've been thinking the same thing since I moved here Michael. Everyday I drive home over a river where the salmon are running. I would love to give them a try.

Dad will have to start a fishing school for those of us who hook fish by chance rather than by skill!

That's a crazy coincidence! Did you get to fish at all together?

That is funny. Who where you fishing with dad? I was on the river today Kayaking with Lana someone was going fly fishing when we loading the boat and I was just thinking how long it had been. It would be great to go together. Let’s pick a date and go next year.

We did not fish together at all, we just were on the same river about the same time...dad and his group got in before us and we got out just before them because they stopped and let us get past them because we would get out faster then with our drift boats. Dad was with Ed Turner, Bruce Davis, Steve Worrell, and another man I do not know, I believe he is an architect in Idaho Falls.

I am glad Dad got some fishing in between jobs. I understand he is working for a small roofing operation in Moran now. Not sure how you got the time to fish Mike, with the whole working in both SLC and Provo.

We fished within a mile of one another for two days, slept about 50' apart and if we hadn't eaten breakfast in the same place we might not have know we were within 200 miles of each other. Catching fish was absolutely serendipitous to the trip because the weather was sooooo nice! I would love to fish the Snake together next fall. I'm thinking about buying a flat bottom fishing boat that would carry three of us so all we would have to do is rent one more boat and we could all go. The fishing is the best in late September or early October. How about going on Grandpa's birthday (28th)?

I would love to do that, but I would need to go the weekend before Grandpas birthday or the weekend after his birthday, I have to be at work on his birthday. I think we could borrow the old "cadillac" that I was in last weekend. Sounds like a great few days to be on the water. I think with all of us driving there, we should keep the weekend before the 28th and the weekend after the 28th open and decide what the better weather weekend is, last year both dad and I had to fight with weather issues, it snowed on me and blew dad all over the river.

The week prior will probably be better weather and maybe better fishing.
