8-18-08 Project 365

I thought that you all might be interested in today's "365" as well. I have attached the pic and description below and then after that some pictures from the day I described.
8-18-08 When my brother and his family were in town, my four year old niece and I were outside doing a puzzle and reading a story. I don't recall why, but somehow we ended up gardening while we were out there and I discovered that the carnations -- which I had bought in late June/early July and which had already bloomed and faded -- were growing new blooms. Being thus, I pruned back the old growth to make room for, and give energy to the new growth. I also did the same for the other annuals in that spot in the garden. Today I noticed that the pruning had delightfully yielded blooms. As I was pruning over a week ago, my niece was weeding. She would excitedly show me every weed she picked and I would often photograph her triumph. As we were finishing our work, I asked her what we should plant in the spot of the garden where the weeds had been. She promptly replied, "weeds!" I questioned why and she responded "so we can pick them." She is a true gardener, finding so much joy in the work that a weed is worth planting just for the joy of the work involved in picking it.

Liberty is a Cutie. It is funny what kids think about doing jobs that adults don't always like!

That is a sweet story. You two "kids" had lots of fun working and playing together.

i was just showing this to a co-worker and i said, 'thats my neice' then i said .. no it's not because 1) i thought kristi was in chicago and 2) i decided the kid in the picture was clearly a profesional model who looked like Libby.

After reading the text i realize that Libby is one good looking kid and Kristi is one heck of a photog. so now i'm even more proud of my family (if that is possible) than i was 5 minutes ago.

Liberty did have lots of fun in the garden with you. I am glad we got her to stop picking those hot peas.

I already can't wait for tomorrow's 365! It's my thought that little Liberty will remember this for a long time.
