In early December I started doing CrossFit at a friend’s gym. One of the things that we do every workout is pull ups. He has bands that help support your weight. Even with that pull ups are challenging and it was hard for me to fathom the day that I would be able to do a pull up like I could do in elementary school. On Wednesday’s I go to recess with my Kindergarten kids and I always try a pull up on the playground to see how I am progressing. When I tried today I was astonished as my chin crested the bar. When I got to CrossFit tonight I was anxious to see if I could do a pull up from full shoulder & elbow extension. I was again excited and astonished as my chin crested the bar. I was able to do seven before my muscles fatigued.
My first pull up!
This was five days ago using the band when I thought that it would still be months before I could do a pull up without the support of the band.
This is a sample of one of the workouts we have done. We did 5 rounds of 1) floor wipers (bench press 65# and then touch feet to each side of the weight bar 5 times) 2) static lunges with 25# overhead 5 times with each leg 3) 5 pull ups. You try to do the workouts as fast as you can and I did this one in 12 minutes.

AWESOME! You rock!
That's incredible. I haven't done a chin-up since we lived in Roy. The only thing I am exercising right now is my mind. You should hear all the things I have learned about English from the lectures I've been watching. I am even reading Beowulf and actually understand some Old English. You keep excersing your body!
What kind of English lectures are you watching? That is pretty cool!
It's a 36-lecture series from a professor from Stanford. I'm about half-way through and I'm loving it. I understand a lot more about the reasons why we don't spell the way we pronouce words. From an Old English poem "written" about 900 I've learned more about the orgin of "Ward". Camden is the poet and he's trying to instill the idea of a benevolent Heavenly Father and he uses many different words to identify him. One is "Weard" which in OE means "watchful guardian" and Camden wants his listeners to understand about our heavenly parent's care of us. It is pronouced "we-ard". So the original meaning of our last name is a benevolent, and kind guardian.
Wohoo! That is great Kate. Congrats. :)
Looking good gal! I don't visit the blog for a few weeks and you look pretty fit. Keep it going so you'll be able to row the boat this summer.
This is cool ... i like to see how you are getting buff and am also delighted to see mom buffing up her brain!
